Tantawi:Army intent on handing power to elected authority

The head of the Supreme Military Council in Egypt Mohamed Hussein Tantawi said on Tuesday the council is committed to handing power to an elected Egyptian authority. He noted that the generation of Jan 25 is an extension of the generation of Oct 73 emphasizing the army''s ability to protect Egypt against any foreign or domestic threats. Tantawi was answering questions of officers and soldiers of the third field army at a meeting designed to discuss current issues.
