Tension between Israel and Palestinians

Demonstrations took place to protest the death of Palestinian prisoner Maysara abuHamdieh in Israel. Ismail Ridvan, one of the Hamas leaders, called for an international investigation into the situation of Palestinian inmates, spreading of cancer in Israeli prisons and to take legal action against Israeli leaders. Ridvan also called on armed groups to kidnap Israeli soldiers to exchange with Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails and said, \" Israel will pay the price of killingPalestinian prisoners and leaders. We promise not to give up our fight.\" Israel had announced the death of Hamdieh, aged 64, due to cancer on Tuesday. Hamdieh, had been detained several times since 1978 and was sentenced to life in 2002 during his activities in Fatah. There are around 4,460Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons, according to Palestinian Ministry of Prisoners\' Affairs. According to information received by Palestinian security sources that Israeli fighter jets fired missiles into two empty areas in east of Gaza.
