The State of Qatar has welcomed the elections in Libya in which Mohammed Magarief was elected President of Libya's national assembly. A statement issued today by the Emiri Diwan said the State of Qatar while welcoming the electoral process conducted under an atmosphere of fair competition, hopes that it would be a progressive step towards establishing democracy and bolstering the path of harmony and national unity. The State of Qatar congratulates the brotherly people of Libya on the success of these free and fair elections as well as the new Libyan leadership which has gained trust and reached power through the democratic process. Concluding, the statement expressed Qatar's full conviction that the Libyan leadership will spare no efforts to work for the sake of the prosperity and glory of the Libyan people as well as enabling them to restore role and position in service of their country and nation's causes.
