Thousands in BiH mourn victims of Sreberenica Massacre

Thousands of people in Bosnia and Herzegovina gathered on Thursday at Potocari Memorial Center near Srebrenica to mourn for victims in the 1995 Srebrenica Massacre. A total of 409 newly-identified victims were buried at the centre on the 18th anniversary of the massacre, putting the numbers of gravestones to over 6000. Bakir Izetbegovic, member of Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), said the country will pursue those responsible for the mass killing. \"We will not let lies cover the truth about the worst suffering in the history of our nation. Criminals need to hear a clear message: we will never cease to pursue them, there is no statute of limitations on war crime.\" Some 8000 Muslim men and boys were massacred in and near Srebrenica by Bosnian Serb forces in July, 1995, the worst mass massacre in Europe since the end of World War II. The High Representative in BiH Valentin Inzko, during his address at the ceremony, called people giving priority to love over hatred. \"If we want to understand BiH we must first understand Srebrenica. Those who do not know Srebrenica cannot know Bosnia and Herzegovnia.\" He read two messages he received from ordinary Bosnias, which urges people \"sow love not hatred\". Over 20,000 people gathered near Potocari centre for the funeral, including BiH high officials and diplomats from several countries.
