Beijing - Xinhua

Top Chinese leaders met here on Wednesday with Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski and pledged to further cooperation in various fields. Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People\'s Congress, China\'s top legislature, said China attaches importance to its relations with Poland during a meeting with Komorowski. China will work with Poland to deepen political mutual trust, support each other\'s core interests, respect each other\'s development modes based on their own domestic situations, and further cooperation in the fields of trade, the economy, science and technology and humanitarian efforts, Wu said. He called on the two parliaments, which have conducted active exchanges of experience, to further cooperate so as to contribute to bilateral ties. Komorowski hailed Poland\'s traditional friendship with China, urging the two countries to grasp opportunities and further mutually beneficial cooperation, as they are both experiencing important development periods. After his talks with Wu, Komorowski held a meeting with Premier Wen Jiabao in downtown Beijing. During their meeting, both sides vowed to further bilateral cooperation in fields such as infrastructure construction and the economy. Wen said there are many similarities between the development strategies of China and Poland. The two sides should strengthen economic and technological cooperation as they cope with the international financial crisis. The two countries\' government departments and companies should have close contact, expand trade, promote two-way investment, strengthen infrastructure construction and financial cooperation, and deepen cultural exchanges, Wen said. Komorowski said the two countries\' maintenance of stable economic development during the financial crisis provided new opportunities for them to cooperate. Poland is ready for further cooperation with China in trade, investment, technology, finance and infrastructure construction. He also vowed to promote high-level exchanges and personnel communication at all levels with China, so as to increase the mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples. Vice Premier Li Keqiang, who attended an economic forum along with Komorowski on Wednesday morning, said the two states share reciprocal advantages for economic cooperation. He suggested the two countries expand cooperation in finance, energy, science and technology, machinery manufacture and agriculture, and seek balanced trade by boosting economic cooperation. Poland has been China\'s largest trade partner in Central and Eastern Europe for six years, and the bilateral trade volume hit 11 billion U.S. dollars in 2010. Li welcomed Polish companies to tap the Chinese market, and, during his speech at the forum, Komorowski encouraged Chinese enterprises to invest in his country.
