US presidential candidate Donald Trump has rebounded in the latest opinion poll after a disastrous week in which fell as much as 15 percentage points behind his challenger, Hillary Clinton.
Republican Trump has pulled to within three points of Clinton, who leads him 42% to 39% in a Reuter's poll taken between July 31 and August 4. Last week Clinton led Trump by 8 points.
Trump has apparently emerged from a week in which leaders of his Republican Party again began distancing himself from him after he refused to back the re-election bid of Representative Paul Ryan, the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Another party leader, Senator John McCain of Arizona, criticized Trump for remarks he made about a Pakistani-American family whose son was killed fighting for the United States in Iraq.
The family had gone after Trump from the podium of the Democratic Party convention last month, assailing him for his vow to bar Muslims from entering the United States. And the soldier's father challenged Trump to explain what sacrifice he had made for his country.
