The 9th session of the "Forum for the future" will be held in 2012 in Tunisia under Tunisian-American chairmanship, according to the decision made at the end of the forum 8th session held in Kuwait last november 21-22 under French-Kuwaiti chairmanship. The Forum for the future, attended by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Economy and Trade, aims to increase opportunities of partnership and favour co-ordination between the 8 industrialised countries, the MENA countries (Middle East and North Africa) and delegates of the civil society. This meeting, attended by Foreign Minister Mohamed Mouldi Kéfi, also aims to establish a comprehensive dialogue on democracy and on means to fight against corruption and reinforce women's role within the society. In his address, the FM highlighted the democratic transition process in Tunisia and voiced satisfaction at the success of last October 23 elections which took place in total transparency. On the sidelines of the forum works, the FM met last Tuesday evening with Emir of Kuwait sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah who seized the occasion to congratulate Tunisia on the success of the elections for the constituent assembly. On the other hand, Tunisia attended the ministerial conference on "the Deauville partnership" that took place with attendance of the Foreign Ministers and delegates of G8 countries and the other partner states as well as several representatives of regional and international organisations and institutions. The FM had a series of meetings with his French, Kuwaiti, Italian and Danish counterparts, the US Assistant Secretary of State to Foreign Affairs, the British Deputy Foreign Minister, several heads of attending delegations and delegates of international and regional organisations. The first session of the forum for the future had been held in 2004 in Morocco under US-Moroccan chairmanship.
