Turkey detained nine suspects after 1,200 rocket warheads were seized Thursday in Turkey's southern Adana province near the Syrian border, the semi-official Anadolu news agency reported Friday. Adana Governor Huseyin Avni Cos said Thursday that a cargo truck filled with rocket heads, bazookas, missiles, bombs and guns was seized in Adana near the Syrian border, adding that Turkish police teams discovered the weapons after pursuing the truck initially on the suspicion that it was carrying drugs. Recently, clashes between different groups of the Syrian opposition fighters intensify near the Turkish-Syrian border, Turkey is high alert for fears of any spillover into its border. Turkey, once an ally of Damascus but now is a leading voice against it, has purportedly provided Syrian rebel leaders with sanctuary.
