Turkey grants $35m worth of aid to Tunisia

The Turkish International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) delivered 434 vehicles as a part of aid package to Tunisia worth 35 million U.S. dollars, local media reported Tuesday.The aid was granted at a meeting of Tunisian Prime Minister Ali Larayedh and Turkish deputy prime minister Bekir Bozdag in Tunis. The new vehicles, as part of a project to modernize the Tunisian police force, include street sweepers, earthmovers and motorcycles.In another project, TIKA had offered a total of 112 vehicles to 24 municipalities in Tunisia to boost the development of the localities.Since Tunisia\'s new government took office, Turkey and Tunisia have reinforced their relations in many areas.TIKA, established in 1992 with 35 offices all over the world, aims to provide assistance to developing countries. In 2011, it offered foreign development aid worth 2.63 billion dollars to about 100 countries.
