Turkish police raids leftist group locations

Turkish police launched an operation against the outlawed Revolutionary People\'s Liberation Party/Front (DHKP/C) in Ankara on Monday, local media reported. The police raided 20 different places including headquarters of unions linked with the DHKP/C in the capital city. At least three suspects were detained. Last Tuesday, explosions occurred near the headquarters of the ruling Justice and Development party and the Justice Ministry building in Ankara. The DHKP/C then claimed responsibility for attacks in a statement. Earlier in February, the DHKP/C made a suicide bombing against the U.S. embassy in Ankara, killing a Turkish guard. Police have detained more than 100 people in a series of operations against the DHKP/C since January. The terrorist group, listed by Turkey and the United States as a terrorist organization, has carried out attacks in the past in retaliation for arrests of its members.
