
The U.A.E. Embassy in the United Kingdom hosted a reception on the occasion the 42nd National Day. The ceremony was attended by Hugh Robertson, U.K. Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, Alan Duncan, Minister of State for International Development and Philip Dunne, Minister for Defence Equipment, Support and Technology. The ceremony was attended by Alistair Burt, Former Middle East minister, a number of members of the British Parliament and the House of Lords, senior officials of the British Foreign Ministry and diplomatic corps, and ambassadors of Arab and foreign missions in the United Kingdom, along with a number of senior officials. Abdulrahman Ghanem Al Mutaiwee, U.A.E. Ambassador to the United Kingdom, while addressing the attendees highlighted the importance of this occasion to the Emirati people. He also shed light on the march of growth, continuous progress and the remarkable achievements that have been made during the last 42 years, thanks to the wise and visionary leadership, the dedication and loyalty of the Emirati people to their homeland and their participation in carrying its burdens and responsibilities. The Ambassador also spoke about the unique relationship between the U.A.E. and the United Kingdom and the continuous development of these relations. Concluding his speech, he expressed the happiness and joy of the people of the U.A.E. as this year's National Day coincides with the occasion of the U.A.E. winning its bid to host the World Expo 2020. Mr. Robertson also addressed the audience, as he talked about the historical relations between the two countries and the development of these relations at various political, economic and cultural levels, stressing that this relationship will remain outstanding and will see continuous development.
