The UAE and Turkmenistan signed a memorandum of understanding here today to bolster their co-operation in disaster and crisis management.
The agreement comes within the context of the existing relations between the two countries across various areas.
Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bowardi, the UAE Minister of State for Defence Affairs, and Yaylym Berdiev, Turkmenistan’s Minister of Defence, signed the agreement at the Ministry of Defence headquarters.
Lauding the UAE’s relations and partnership with Turkmenistan, Al Bowardi underlined that such agreements would enhance preparedness, and support security and efforts to counter disasters and crises in line with the UAE’s national security strategy.
Berdiev stressed that Turkmenistan is keen to co-operate with the UAE to further their relations in areas such as defence and security, in view of the present circumstances.
Al Bowardi visited Turkmenistan in October to participate in the country’s Independence Day celebrations to mark the growing defence co-operation and relations with the Central Asian country.
