UK Under-Secretary of State for the Middle East and North Africa Affairs Alistair Burt said on Thursday that his country is concerned with bringing political stability and peace to Egypt. Burt\'s announcement came after his meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy, where they discussed issues of mutual concern. Burt noted that his country is hoping that all parties involved in the current political situation in Egypt would do their best to end the ongoing tension and clashes, adding that those arrested with no serious offences must be released, so they can participate in bringing political stability to their country. The whole world is looking forward to see a safe and violent-free Egypt, he said, noting that the UK aims to help Egypt economically, and support Egyptians in any way possible. Burt said that he had also discussed with Fahmy the situation in Syria, and the peace process in the Middle East, adding that he was pleased with the results of their meeting. Burt also congratulated Fahmy for his appointment as Foreign Minister.
