The United Kingdom (UK) supports Bahrain as it now takes to the process of implementing the recommendations of the Bahrain Independent Commission Inquiry (BICI). If there is any expertise available in the UK to help in the process at the request of Bahrain, then the country will make it available said the UK\'s Minister for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). Addressing issues confronting Bahrain in the wake of the BICI recommendations at a media meeting at the British Embassy, Alistair Burt, Minister for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) said that the United Kingdom (UK) fully supports the process of the Bahrain Independent Commission Inquiry. The UK government regards the work of the committee as unprecedented in the region in terms of its openness and the reaction of the government in facing honestly the criticisms made through the Commission report was also of extraordinary significance in the region. Where there can be outside support and assistance the UK wants to say it is willing and ready to support such a process, he added. Bahrain has to set its own priorities in implementing the recommendations, he added. However, the UK will encourage the Bahraini government to seek to implement quickly what it can and look for opportunities to do things that demonstrate the good faith with which it appears the government is approaching this whole process. The government led by James Cameron sees encouraging friendship in the Gulf as a key part of its profile, he added. The minister said he was enthused with the meeting he had with the British Bahrain Forum. He claimed it was heartening to find the number of British companies that are engaged in infrastructure and financial services in Bahrain. The British business community wants to see Bahrain increasingly develop, said the minister and added Bahrain is considering major projects in infrastructure in which companies from the United Kingdom have a great deal of expertise – be it energy, transport or construction.
