Ukrainian protesters demand Yanukovych\'s resignation

Participants of an opposition rally currently held in downtown Kiev have demanded the resignation of President Viktor Yanukovych and early presidential elections, a RIA Novosti correspondent said.Several thousands of protesters who have arrived from Ukraine\'s regions are taking part in the meeting.Meanwhile, scores of former Chernobyl cleanup workers are holding a separate event near the Ukrainian government building. Many also gathered in a park in front of the building. The protesters have gone on a hunger strike. The situation there is calm and quiet, police said.
