
As part of his current visit to Iraq, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon arrived in Irbil, Tuesday to check on the situation of Syrian refugees in Iraq's Kurdistan province. Ki-Moon was received by Kurdistan Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani. Ban will head to Kor Kosic refugee camp northern Irbil, where he will meet with prominent Kurdish figures to discuss Anbar's latest events. His meetings with Kurdish officials will also focus on relations between the central and provincial goverments in Baghdad and Irbil as well as the exportation of Kurdish oil to Turkey, a Kurdish government statement said. Ban had arrived in Baghdad yesterday, where he met with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki to discuss the Syrian crisis and security issues in Iraq.
