
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will address the opening session of the eighth Global Colloquium of University Presidents next week, a UN spokesman said here Friday.
He will give a keynote address on Tuesday at the colloquium sponsored by Yale University in New Haven, the U.S. state of Connecticut, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said at a daily news briefing here.
"The colloquium will centre on the theme of 'Preservation of Cultural Heritage: Challenges and Strategies' and the secretary-general will speak on that topic," Dujarric said.
The colloquium is convened by presidents of its six sponsoring institutions -- Brown, Columbia, New York, Princeton and Yale universities, and the University of Pennsylvania -- on behalf of and with the support and participation of the secretary-general, he said.
Ban will return to New York the following day, the spokesman added.
