The United Nations is calling for the convening of an international conference on Syria in mid-November, a UN spokesman said Monday. \"The UN secretary general believes that it can take place in mid-November and we are determined to make it happen,\" said Martin Nesirky, brushing off speculation that a second Geneva conference may be further delayed because of difficulties to bring Syrian parties to attend. Nesirky said the UN planned to submit to the UN Security Council a report on the destruction of chemical weapons in Syria, which started on Monday by inspectors of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons with the cooperation of the Syrian government.
