UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called on Tuesday for a stronger EU-UN partnership to face the current global challenges.
In a joint press conference with the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker in Brussels, Ban expressed concern about the loss of lives in the Mediterranean, stressing the importance of working together to address the root causes of displacement and to ensure better protection.
Responding to a question on the refugee and migrant crisis and the agreement between the EU and Turkey, Ban expressed appreciation for efforts to manage the large flows of refugees and migrants.
Each country received refugees and immigrants do not suffer from the problems of resources, but also political difficulties, Ban said, calling on EU leaders to show solidarity and to express sympathy
