UN secretary general hails agreements signed by Sudan and south Sudan

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon on Friday hailed the agreement signed by Sudan and South Sudan, which aims at strengthening border security and leading to permanent resolution of the outstanding issues between the two countries. He said, in statement released Friday \"there should be no further conditions\" in the way of immediate implementation of the Sept. 27 agreements, including the agreement on oil. The UN Secretary General renewed the Organization\'s readiness to \"support the operations of the Joint Border Verification and Monitoring Mechanism and assist the parties in the implementation of these agreements\". The signed agreements include the establishment of a safe demilitarized border zone, a joint border verification and monitoring mechanism and the activation of agreed security-related mechanisms as of 10 March 2013,\" said the statement released by Ban\'s spokesperson. The agreement signed by Sudan and South Sudan yesterday in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa with the aim of activating implementation of the framework agreements reached on Sept. 27 last year for boosting cooperation in the fields of security, the common border and economic relations.
