
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Friday welcomed the adoption of a resolution by the UN Security Council on Israeli settlements.
In a statement, spokesman for the secretary general Stephane Dujarric said the adoption of the resolution is a significant step toward a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Sputnik reported.
"The secretary-general welcomes the adoption by the Security Council of Resolution 2334 (2016) on the situation in the Middle East," the statement said.
