
The UN Security Council on Saturday unanimously passed a resolution supporting the ceasefire in Syria which was brokered by Turkey and Russia.
The ceasefire, announced this week, was the third one this year that sought to end the nearly six-year war. Russia and Turkey co-brokered the ceasefire which took effect midnight Thursday between the Syrian regime and several groups.
Turkey and Russia will act as guarantor countries in supporting the ceasefire, which also includes comprehensive peace talks in Kazakhstan's capital, Astana.
