Former Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Guterres is poised to become the next United Nations Secretary-General after recieving endorsement from the UN Security Council, News reports said on Thursday.
For the past few months, members of the United Nations Security Council have been holding a series of secret informal polls.
Vitaly Churkin is Russia's Ambassador to the UN said: "After our sixth straw poll, we have a clear favorite and his name is Antonio Guterres."
