The UN urged the Iraqi government Monday to provide security and justice, as well as addressing problems of rejectionism, division and poverty. Nikolay Mladenov, UN special envoy to Iraq, made the remarks in a statement during a ceremony in Baghdad marking the UN Day. This occasion, he added, was an opportunity to urge the Iraqi political leaders to address division, marginalizing and poverty in the midst of violence that was overshadowing the country. Mladenov said the social and security challenges were posing a threat to the Iraqi community. The envoy also commended the Iraqi government for its development plan, which would play an important role in national unity. The UN Day marks the implementation of the UN Charter
