Iran’s Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations Mohammad Khazaei said the recent US allegations against Iran aimed at distracting world public opinion as well as the American people from the adverse problems the United States is now facing. Making the remark in an exclusive interview with IRNA, Khazaei dismissed as baseless the US allegations regarding Iran\'s plans to assassinate the Saudi Arabia Ambassador in the US. The US-made scenario against the Islamic Republic of Iran aimed at creating rift among the Islamic countries as well as Iran’s neighbors, said Khazaei. He stressed that “nullifying this scenario calls for even more vigilance and cooperation among Islamic states and Iran\'s neighbors.” He noted that some American officials suddenly came up with baseless and false accusations against Iran on Tuesday which were rejected by many analysts and experts even inside the US due to their hollowness. Just a few minutes after the allegations were publicized, he said, the Iranian envoy office in New York took speedy measures to reject the allegations by correspondence with the UN Secretary General, the Security Council head and the chairman of the UN General Assembly and voiced Iran\'s most strong objections to the act. The Iranian Permanent Envoy to the UN was asked to comment on certain remarks made by the spokesperson of the US Secretary of State regarding talks between officials of the two countries and also sending of a message to Iran. He said he immediately contacted the US ambassador to Tehran who acted as the head of the US interest section In Tehran and was staying in Washington at the time and, voicing Iran\'s severe protests to such allegations, called on her to inform the American officials on the issue. He added that simultaneous with this the Iranian Foreign Ministry, too, summoned the Swiss Charge d\'affaires in Tehran to convey Iran’s strong protest to the issue. Khazaei said that a non-official message was also submitted by the US permanent representative to the UN repeating the same baseless allegations already raised by the US press and media. He went on to stress that no kind of official talks has taken place between the two countries, saying that the non-official note could in no way be taken as \'negotiation\'.
