
Charge d’Affairs of the U.S. Embassy in Yemen, Karen Sasahara, has confirmed his country’s supportive position to security, stability and unity of Yemen and efforts of combating terrorism. This came during her meeting on Monday with Chief of General Staff Maj. Gen. Ahmed Ali al-Ashwal, during which they discussed the developments and the issues of common interest between Yemen and the United States, as well as aspects of cooperation between the armies of the two countries in the field of counter-terrorism and the exchange of information, expertise and experiences. In the meeting, al-Ashwal confirmed that the heroes of the armed and security forces were able to thwart the plans of the terrorist act and the dastardly attack on the compound of Defense and killed all terrorist elements . He pointed out that the military and security authorities are continuing to investigate and collect information and track down those who stood behind this cowardly terrorist act to bring them to justice. Al-Ashwal hailed the logistical support provided by the United States for Yemen and its efforts in the fight against terrorism, noting that the areas of military cooperation between the two countries would witness further development and modernization in the fields of training and rehabilitation. For her part, the U.S. Charge d’Affairs offered condolences on behalf of his country to the Yemeni people and to the families of the victims ,who fell in the Defense compound hospital last Thursday.
