A delegation from the U.S. Congress is to visit Yemen soon to discuss the mutual relations of the two countries and means of enhancing them. The visit comes at a time in which the Yemeni-American relations witness a growth development in various fields as well as for the U.S. topped the list of countries supporting Yemen during two years. The U.S. State Department announced in its budget for the current year the allocation of US$ 72.6 million as an aid for Yemen recommended by the White House, including US$ 38 million allocated to support the transition and constitutional reforms in Yemen (economic aid). Whereas US$ 9.5 million devoted to support health and population sector, US$ 4 million as aid for the police and judiciary, US$ 20 million as a military aid and US$ 1.1 million to fund the training and rehabilitation security and military programs. It is worth mentioning that the recent statistics issued by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) showed that the American humanitarian and development assistance for Yemen since October 2011 until the beginning of March 2013 amounted to more than US$ 141 million, making it the largest supporter for Yemen in the field of humanitarian aid.
