The US State Department hit back on Saturday against reports claiming that Syrian President Bashar Assad will be given refuge in another country as part of an agreement between Washington and Moscow.
The US State Department spokesperson Elizabeth Trudeau dismissed the reports as false.
"Our position on Assad has not changed. Assad must be transitioned out. The decisions for how that will take place must be decided in the context of the UN political negotiations that will begin in mid-April," the spokesperson said.
