US Embassy in Cairo to close on anniversary of Morsi inauguration

The U.S. Embassy in Cairo is advising Americans to maintain a low profile as the anniversary of President Mohamed Morsi\'s inauguration approaches. The Embassy announced it will be closed to the public June 30 \"in anticipation of demonstrations that may turn violent,\" Ahram Online reported Tuesday. The embassy said it is warning its personnel against attending any anti-government protests planned for that day while Americans in Egypt are being advised to restrict movement to their immediate areas beginning June 28. Other countries, including France and the United Kingdom, have warned their citizens to avoid large gatherings June 30. Egypt\'s opposition Rebel campaign has stressed its commitment to stage peaceful protests. However, the U.S. Embassy warned that \"even demonstrations or events intended to be peaceful can turn confrontational and possibly escalate into violence.\"
