US military plane crash kills 4 in northeastern Colombia

Colombian authorities confirmed on Saturday that a U.S. military airplane crashed into the ground near Acandi city in northeastern Choco province bordering Panama, killing four of the six passengers on board. Cesar Hernandez, director of Choco\'s disaster relief department, told local media that the U.S. twin-engined airplane was traveling with a Panamanian and five American passengers. Two have been rescued alive but their identifications are still unknown. \"We are coordinating with Colombia\'s Air Force to transfer the two people with whom we have contacted to a hospital in the city, although their conditions are still unknown,\" Hernandez said. Colombian authorities are undertaking further investigations to establish the cause of the accident. According to initial reports, the accident might have occurred because of difficult weather conditions that might make pilots lose control of the aircraft.
