US drone-fired missiles have killed eight people in Pakistan’s volatile north-western tribal region near the Afghan border, the Associated Press reports citing the country’s intelligence officials. Speaking on conditions of anonymity they said that the missiles had hit a house in Spalga village in North Waziristan on Wednesday. The identities of those killed in the attack are unknown but the area is dominated by Hafiz Gul Bahadur, a prominent militant commander, who has focused on fighting foreign troops in Afghanistan. The latest strikes come as US-Pakistani relations hit an all-time low following the friendly fire incident that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers in November.
