US radar imposed on Turkey

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says that the US has imposed a radar system upon the Turkish nation, stressing that today weapons play no part in determining ties among nations. “Today, relations among the nations are not determined by rockets or weapons systems; rather, they are decided upon by the people,” said Ahmadinejad in an interview with Russia's news channel Russia Today, IRNA reported on Thursday. Describing the Iran-Turkey ties as very good, the Iranian president said that he believes that the installation of the missile shield in Turkey has been imposed on the nation of this country. “The US imposed this radar and its will [on the Turkey nation], but will reap no benefits from it in the long term,” he said. Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Selcuk Unal announced the country's decision to host the missile shield on September 2. Following Ankara's announcement, Russia criticized the plan and criticized NATO efforts to advance eastward. Ahmadinejad also criticized the extremist US capitalist policies, saying that it is “inhumane and a source of many problems for the people of the world.” “Public uprisings in Arab countries and all across the world are against the [spread of the] influence of the extremist capitalism, which is inhumane,” he said. The head of Iran's executive branch added that the uprisings are not limited to the Arab world and mentioned France, the UK, and Greece as cases in point. Ahmadinejad also expressed Iran's support for the Palestinian statehood bid at the UN Security Council, saying that if the Palestinians fail to realize their right to a sovereign state this year, they will achieve it in the coming years. “This move will succeed one day and no one can stop it from happening,” he stressed.
