US-Taliban hold ‘exploratory’ contact

The Afghan Taliban and the United States have made only exploratory contacts prior to possible negotiations, the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan said on Thursday. “I must emphasize that word \'exploratory\'. They are not talks,” Umar Daudzai told Reuters. The contacts do not involve the Kabul government. The talks are supposed to be between the Afghan government and the Taliban, the diplomat said. “We have not reached to that stage,” he stressed.
