The U.S. said here Saturday that among those killed in the "shameful" attack on the restaurant in Kabul, Afghanistan is IMF's Resident Representative, personnel from the UN and U.S. citizens. State Department Spokesperson Jennifer Psaki said in a statement the U.S. "joins leaders from around the world in condemning the terrorist attack in Kabul on January 17 against Afghans and those who are there to help them." She pointed out that "among those murdered in this shameful act were Wabel Abdallah, the International Monetary Fund's Resident Representative, personnel from the United Nations, and civilians from around the world, including U.S. citizens, who had come to help build a peaceful, prosperous future for Afghanistan and its people. Several Afghan citizens were also tragically killed." She stressed "with this despicable, targeted attack on innocent civilians, terrorists continue to demonstrate blatant disregard for life and for the peaceful, prosperous future Afghans want and are working so hard to achieve." "The United States and our international partners remain steadfast in our commitment to the people of Afghanistan and support their efforts toward peace, reconciliation, and a secure, stable, and prosperous nation," she affirmed.
