US won\'t deliver fighter jets to Egypt; calls for peaceful protests

The United States will be \"consulting with Congress\" on a way to move forward in Egypt, but it will not deliver fighter jets to General Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi, revealed the State Department on Wednesday. The decision was made by President Obama and was \"unanimously supported by his national security team.\" \"Given the current situation in Egypt, we do not believe it is appropriate to move forward with the delivery of F-16s at this time,\" said Spokesperson Jennifer Psaki. On Tuesday, the Obama administration said the delivery of the F-16 fighter jets would be delayed due to \"political reasons,\" but no further details were disclosed. \"We remain focused on encouraging the interim government to move towards an inclusive process, which includes elections, civilian elections, and we\'re monitoring closely steps they\'re taking to do just that,\" said Psaki \"We reiterate our call, which we have done publicly a number of times that all -- any demonstrations be peaceful,\" she added. \"We are concerned that clashes would make it very difficult to reconcile and get ahead of cycles of unrest and instability.\"
