The Vatican announced Thursday that it recognised the National Transitional Council as the \"legitimate representative of the Libyan people,\" following the death of Moamer Kadhafi. In an official statement, the Holy See said that \"the death of Kadhafi brings to an end the long and tragic phase in the bloody fight to beat a hard and oppressive regime.\"
