A pregnant woman was accidentally shot dead in the southern city of Aden on Saturday as protesters calling for the release of prisoners clashed with Yemeni police, government and medical officials said. "An woman eight months pregnant died of her wounds after she was shot by live rounds," a medic told AFP. A local government official told AFP that clashes erupted between police forces and protesters who tried to block a road in Aden's Khor Maksar neighbourhood. The police opened fire, killing the woman, he said. "The protesters had taken to the street to demand the release of two residents of their neighbourhood who were arrested nine days ago without an arrest warrant." Aden is a stronghold of several armed groups including militias linked to southern separatists.
