Yemeni security authorities arrested 80 persons for seizing a licensed Egyptian fishing boat and its crew for allegedly targeting shrimp fisheries in the Red Sea, a Yemeni security source said. According to Yemeni fishermen, the Egyptian boat "Golden Star" tried to run over a Yemeni fishing boat and swept away fishing nets set by Yemeni fishermen. Yemeni authorities on Thursday towed the Egyptian boat to Al-Hudida city to check its papers. Speaking to MENA, Al-Hudida security director Ahmad al-Humidi said Yemeni security forces surrounded the coastal village where the Egyptian boat and its sailors were seized. The Yemeni fishermen alleged that the boat was not sailing in the permitted area but two nautical miles away from the coasts of Al-Hudida, Humidi said. The arrested Yemenis are accused of piracy.
