Yemeni Defence Minister Maj. Gen. Mohammed Nasser Ahmed and Interior Minister Maj. Gen. Abdul Qader Mohammed Qahtan met here today with Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General and his envoy to Yemen Jamal bin Omar. During the meeting, they discussed a number of issues relating to the implementation of the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanisms, as well as the measures that have been accomplished to establish security and stability in the country. The Yemeni defense and interior ministers explained that the efforts being exerted by the Yemeni Military Commission in the implementation of effective programmes to save the country from the effects of lalst year’s crisis have achieved good results in the restoration the situation to normal, pointing to the positive steps undertaken by the Commission towards the strengthening of security. For his part, Jamal bin Omar underlined the international community’s keenness on supporting Yemen, pointing out that the current political settlement in this country enjoys great care and interest from the United Nations.
