Zagreb church model added to miniature EU park in Belgium

A model of the St. Mark Church in Zagreb, the capital city of Croatia, was placed at the Mini-Europe park in Brussels on Monday, Croatian media reported. Croatian President Ivo Josipovic and Mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandic were among the officials who attended the unveiling. Croatian and European anthems were played while red, white and blue balloons were released into the air. The park is located at the foot of the Atomium, a popular monument in Brussels, originally constructed for the 1958 World Expo. \"St. Mark\'s Church is a symbol of many things and today it stands next to important monuments from all over Europe. We are all proud together,\" said President Josipovic. The Croatian Press Photo exhibition was later opened at the park, followed by a concert by the Croatian Radio and Television Symphonic Orchestra. Croatia will officially join EU on July 1, becoming the second former Yoguslavia state after Slovenia to be a member of the bloc.
