Zardari invites Indian Prime Minister to visit Pakistan

Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday formally invited India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to visit Pakistan. The invitation had been extended through a letter sent to the Indian prime minister via Pakistan's High Commission in New Delhi, President's spokesperson Farhatullah Babar said today according to local media. In the letter, Zardari suggested to Indian prime minister to visit his hometown in Pakistan to reinforce mutual desire to promote inter-faith and inter-religion harmony. The invitation comes upon Pakistan's Foreign minister Henna Rabbani's statement that her country is ready to solve all disputes with neighboring India. India and Pakistan relations experienced conflicts over the disputed Kashmir territory, in addition to repeatedly accusing each others over security-related incidents. The visit is the first of an Indian prime minister to Pakistan since 1999 when the-then prime ministers of India and Pakistan, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Nawaz Sharif respectively signed the Lahore Declaration to establish peaceful relations upon the India-pakistan War of 1971.
