Zoubi: Syria keen on \'success\' of Brahimi\'s mission

The Syrian government is keen on the success of the United Nations and Arab League Special Representative for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi\'s mission to bring peace and security to the country, said Information Minister Omran Al-Zoubi here Tuesday. Speaking to government-owned media, AL-Zoubi affirmed that the Syrian government wanted Brahimi\'s mission to succeed but indicated that \"forces from the outside\" were against the UN mission. \"Syria is interested in helping the UN, and if the mission failed, then the blame should be directed at those seeking to foil the talks,\" noted Al-Zoubi. He stressed that the Syrian government was in compliance with an international resolution regarding the situation in the country, but indicated that solution should be agreed upon by \"all parties\" involved. The Syrian official meanwhile called for a patriotic opposition within the country to help the government in its reforms. He added that the military was fighting militant groups seeking chaos, stressing that those groups should not be labeled as \"opposition\". In regards to the recent opposition conference in Damascus, Al-Zoubi denounced the meeting and said there would be another conference that would encompass \"all sides\".
