34 Taliban militants killed, 20 others injured in Afghan

At least 34 Taliban militants were killed following military operations in the past 24 hours, Afghan interior ministry said Wednesday. The operations were conducted jointly by Afghan national police (ANP) forces in cooperation with the Afghan national army (ANA) forces and Afghan intelligence – National Directorate of Security (NDS) operatives, Khaama Press reported. Interior ministry following a statement said at least 20 Taliban militants were also injured and 2 others were arrested during the operations. The statement further added that Afghan national security forces confiscated various types of weapons, ammunition and explosives following the operations which were conducted in Nangarhar, Baghlan, Zabul, Logar, Ghazni, Paktia, Herat, Kapisa, Badghis and Helmadn provinces. Afghan national police forces also confiscated seven improvised explosive devices (IEDs) during operations in Nangarhar, Kunar and Paktia provinces. Interior ministry said the IEDs were recently planted by Taliban militants to carry out insurgency attacks.
