At least 11 people were burnt dead and five others seriously wounded on Saturday evening as a passenger minibus overturned and flamed up on a highway through Egypt's northern province of Sharqiya, official MENA news agency reported.
The tragedy took place on Cairo-Ismailia highway after the speedy minibus' front-left tyre blew out. Firefighters and ambulances rushed to the scene and managed to rescue five passengers after cutting through the doors of the vehicles that was completely burnt down.
Traffic accidents are common in Egypt due to poorly maintained roads and common disregard of traffic laws.
Last week, some 33 people were killed and over 40 others wounded when two buses collided on a highway near Sharm El-Sheikh resort city in Egypt's South Sinai.
Later on Tuesday, 19 people were killed and 12 others injured when two minibuses collided and fell into an irrigation canal in southern Egypt's Luxor province.
