
As many as 118 new Syrian refugees, mostly women, children and elderly people, entered Jordan over the past 48 hours, Petra News Agency quoted a national army's statement as saying on Tuesday.
The Jordanian Border Guards exerted enormous efforts to ensure that the displaced were provided with food and drinks and given urgent humanitarian aid before transferring them to refugee camps, the statement added.
Syrian nationals have been fleeing their country following an escalation in the Syrian civil war to escape the violence there.
Roughly 2.5 million Syrian refugees have fled the country to neighboring Jordan and other countries.
