The supreme disciplinary board of judges issued an irrevocable ruling sending 14 judges to compulsory retirement over their affiliation to a pro-Muslim Brotherhood movement called "Judges for Egypt".
A lower disciplinary board had ordered the retirement of 10 judges and reprimanding five others in the case.
But nine of the judges filed a challenge against their retirement and five against their reprimand. The supreme board today decided to send all the 14 to compulsory retirement today after the prosecution asked it to toughen the penalty.
According to investigations, the said judges have violated the judicial authority law prohibiting judges from working in politics.
