
An Ismailia court issued a verdict on Saturday to jail 14 policemen for periods ranging from one to two years over their role in Ismailia jailbreak.
Under the court's verdict, they were fined EGP1,000 while five others were given five-year suspended terms.
According to the court, they were found guilty over the gross dereliction of duty in the jailbreak incident.
A senior police officer and a civilian were shot dead and a low-ranking policeman was injured when six prisoners escaped from al Mostakbal Central Prison in Ismail.
