Fifteen Egyptians were held by local Libyan authorities – not Daesh - at an illegal migrants camp in Libya, Egypt's Assistant Foreign Minister Hisham el Naqib said on Tuesday.
In statements on Tuesday, he said the Foreign Ministry is keen on following up the conditions of all Egyptians abroad.
He said the ministry had contacts with MPs concerned with the issue, families of the 15 Egyptians as well as Libyan authorities.
Initial contacts with Libyan authorities uncovered that the 15 Egyptians were held by local Libyan authorities at an illegal migrants camp in Tripoli, he said.
He underlined that Daesh had nothing to do with the issue.
He called for meticulous verification of information to avoid stirring public opinion.
