At least 16 Lebanese civilians Sunday were killed and 100 others injured in clashes between Lebanese army and militants, belonging to Syrian Opposition, in Arsal, northeast of Lebanon, according to official media reports.
Roughly 16 civilians were killed and 100 others wounded in the clashes, said National News Agency, adding that the wounded whose injuries were slight were transferred to the field hospital inside Arsal.
The agency added that at least 500 tents where Syrian refugees were living had been completely burnt due to such clashes, noting the refugees were forced to stay at mosques and homes of Arsal.
In a related development, the agency said that the army tightened its control on all sites surrounding Arsal and redeployed its forces at strategic points there.
The clashes between the Army and militants erupted on August 2 in Arsal after a Syrian armed group attacked sites of the army.
