
Iraqi police announced here on Thursday that at least 17 Iraqi personnel and 40 militants of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) were killed when the latter attacked military command centers in different areas.
ISIL militants attacked a police headquarters five kilometers east of Al-Ramadi city and in Heet town, west of Al-Ramadi, leaving dead scores of people dead from the two sides, security sources said.
The ISIL militants also clashed with Iraqi army soldiers at military check points stationed on along the road, sources added.
Earlier in the day, Heet was also attacked by the ISIL fighters, according to security sources. The gunmen set off three bombs and launched attacks with lights arms, killing three security men and wounding 10 others, the sources added.
